PROCESS
- Where ever you are on your journey we are keen to help.
- Free consultation to get to know us and understand the process.
- Our process follows the RIBA Plan of Work and is set out below.
STEP 01
Initial Consultation
Project Requirements // Budget // Timescales
The first step is to understand a little about your project requirements. We may discuss some early ideas, budgets, timescales or even precedent work that has inspired you. We understand that not everyone is completely clear what is it that they want or need at this stage and so our aim is to facilitate the decision making process and offer professional design guidance.
Studio Green offers a free 30 minute consultation which can be used as an opportunity to discuss initial ideas, ask questions, or even to just get to know us.
STEP 02
Brief and Preparation
Defining the Brief // Site Visit // Measured Surveys
At this stage we look to formalise the brief and begin gathering accurate information so that we can set off on the right foot. This is likely to include a site, visit, briefing working and arranging for a measured survey.
STEP 03
Feasibility & Concept Design
Opportunities & Constraints // Key Concepts // Design Options
Now the fun begins! We ensure that we have identified the main opportunities and constraints of the site and begin to visualise some initial ideas and concepts in sketch form. This stage is likely to involve some testing and exploration of several options as part of our process-led approach. We understand how important it is to try to get things right early on to avoid wasting time and money further down the line. Part of this might involve early conversations with the local planning department.
STEP 04
Feasibility & Concept Design
Finalise Concepts // Coordinate Design Ideas // Planning Submission
This stage sees the development and coordination of an agreed concept design and involves refining the proposals so that they can be drawn up in more detail. This is a good stage to review costs, engineering, programme and procurement. We typically submit planning applications and listed building consent applications at this stage.
STEP 05
Technical Design
Detail Design // Building Regulations // Procurement
Following a successful planning application, we coordinate the preparation of the technical design along with specifications describing the main components of the building for building control and tender submissions. This will involve coordination with other consultants who may be required to help provide information and prepare for construction.
STEP 06
Construction
Start on Site // Construction Programme // Contract Administration
The messy but fun part! This stage sees all the hard work and great ideas from the earlier stages come to life. The project starts on site and is constructed in line with the construction programme. Our level of involvement during this stage can vary and will be determined by the contract and the selected procurement method.
STEP 07
Handover
Finalise Works // Conclude Contract // Final Certificate
The project team will facilitate the successful handover of the building in line with the project programme and will conclude all aspects of the building contract.
STEP 08
Enjoy
Use // Feedback // Post-occupancy
The work is complete, and you are now able to enjoy your new space.
