Avon Tyrell
An exciting new vision for Avon Tyrrell, a large outdoor activity centre focussed around a Grade I Arts and Crafts House by Lethaby and based in the New Forest.
In addition to addressing the refurbishment, upgrade and re-ordering of the main house and its environs, the proposals set out a future vision for the site involving the creation of a new ‘attractor’ in the north of the site helping to create a spread of activity that encourages visitors to engage with the natural landscape and views. The new ‘attractor’ would be an activities, events and learning centre laid out as a cluster of sensitively sized and designed buildings positioned along an historic avenue that would be reinstated thus helping to improve access through and around the historic site.
The worked formed part of the SPAB Philip Webb Award and was highly commended.
